Katharine Herndon lives in Richmond, Virginia, with her husband, two boys, and a hound dog named Lola. She used to teach (English, of course), but the homework got to her, so she decided to take up nonprofit work instead (insert laughter). Currently the Executive Director of James River Writers, she is an enthusiastic advocate for the RVA literary community and can be found at nearly all JRW events.
Previously, she worked for AAA, Walt Disney World, a community college in Florida, and a ranch in Wyoming. The most interesting jobs have always been the ones she wasn't expecting.
She has a B.A. from Davidson College (in English, of course) and an MA from the University of Florida (in, yes, English with a concentration in Creative Writing). Most recently, she earned her 120-hour Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Nonprofit Learning Point in Richmond.
She doesn't really have any hobbies. (Writing and reading are necessary to life, not hobbies.) She kills plants, burns things more than she cooks, knits very sporadically, and is still looking for some form of tolerable exercise.
She also keeps a running mental log of other Katharines: most obviously, Hepburn; but also the former publisher of the Washington Post; a famed fantasy author; Orville and Wilbur's sister; and that singer.
